Today is the second game in the series in Chicago between the Cubs and the Boston Beaneaters. Yesterday, the two teams combined to commit nine errors. There will be no American League games played today.

The Cubs activated CF Jimmy Slagle from the disabled list.

In the top of the first, Brain put the Beaneaters on the board with an RBI single. Howard then singled to load the bases with one out. Dolan then grounded to the pitcher and Bates was forced at home for the second out. Strobel then flew out to center to retire the side.

In the top of the third, Dolan got an RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. Chance went down on strikes for the second out. Schulte then grounded to first to end the inning.

After three: Boston 2 Chicago 0.

In the top of the fifth, Brain hit another RBI single.

After six: Boston 3 Chicago 0.

Howard got an RBI single in the top of the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Cubs loaded the bases with nobody out. Schulte went down on strikes for the first out. Steinfeldt then grounded into the inning ending 6-4-3.

In the top of the ninth, the Beaneaters added another run, this time on a throwing error.

Pfeffer then finished off the complete game shutout to beat the Cubs for the third time this season.

Final score: Boston 5 Chicago 0.
