Today is the third game in the series in Brooklyn between the Cubs and the Superbas. Despite the injuries, offensive struggles and seven game losing streak they endured, the Cubs can still finish .500 on this road trip if they win the final two games of this series in Brooklyn.

The bottom of the first ended with Moran throwing out Lumley as he was trying to steal second. It was the 40th time this season that Moran caught a base stealer.

In the top of the second with runners at the corners and one out, the Cubs tried a squeeze play but Noonan failed to make contact and Schulte was tagged out at home.

The bottom of the second ended with Casey striking out for the 40th time this season.

Batch led off the bottom of the third with his 10th double of the season. But the Superbas ended up stranding runners at the corners.

After three: Chicago 0 Brooklyn 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, a single to center by Casey combined with an error by Evers allowed Lumley to score the game's first run as he raced home from second.

In the bottom of the fifth, Evers dropped a fly ball by McCarthy, allowing Ritter to score from second.

After six: Brooklyn 2 Chicago 0.

In the top of the second, an RBI single by Hofman put the Cubs on the board.

In the top of the ninth, the Cubs had the tying run on second but Chance grounded to third to end the game.

Six errors doomed the Cubs as neither of the Superbas runs were earned.

Final score: Brooklyn 2 Chicago 1.
