The Dodgers were selecting 19th overall, and in the first round of the amateur draft we selected shortstop Patrick Banks. In the second round we selected second baseman Julio Valdez and starting pitcher Dave Harris, with the extra pick because we failed to sign last year's second rounder.
In the third round we selected pitcher Donald Morgan with shortstop Dennis Lee selected in the fourth round and centerfielder Andre Love rounding out the fifth round.
