Today is the final game of the series in Boston between the Cubs and the Beaneaters. The Cubs are still looking for their first series sweep of Boston this season. Chicago has won four straight. The Beaneaters have lost four of their last five.
The Cubs placed C Johnny Kling on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27th.

Steinfeldt led off the game by hitting his 20th double of the season. But he would be caught stealing third.
In the top of the second, Slagle put the Cubs on the board with an RBI single. Noonan addeda two-run triple. Strobel then threw the ball away on a Steinfeldt grounder and Noonan was able to score from third as the Cubs scored four in the inning.
In the top of the third, Slagle came through again with an RBI single. Slagle was then thrown out trying to swipe second base, givingNeedham 75 caught stealers on the season.
In the bottom of the third, the Superbas got on the board thanks to an RBI single by Bridwell.
After three: Chicago 5 Boston 1.
Dolan led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple and then scored on a Strobel groundout to short.
In the bottom of the sixth, Brain hit an RBI triple.
After six: Chicago 5 Boston 3.
In the top of the eighth, Strobel threw the ball away on a Chance grounder to commit his 30th error of the season at second base. The Cubs then turned that into an RBI single for Schulte. Slagle then added yet another RBI single. Moran followed with a single but Bates threw Slagle out at home as he was trying to score from second.
Those eighth inning runs put the game away. The Cubs had pounded out eleven more hits as they finally finished a sweep of the Beaneaters.
Final score: Chicago 7 Boston 3.
