The Cubs will try to salvage a four game split against the Superbas in the final game of their 18 game home stand today. The Cubs have allowed seven unearned runs in losing their last two games.

In the bottom of the first, Slagle gave the Cubs the lead with an RBI single. Later in the inning, Schulte was caught stealing second giving Ritter his 60th caught base stealer of the season.

In the bottom of the fourth, Steinfeldt drew a walk for the 30th time this season but he was caught stealing second to end the inning

In the top of the sixth, the Superbas had runners at first and second with two out. Abbaticchio singled up the middle and Lewis tried to score to tie the game but he was thrown out at home by Hofman to retire the side.

In the bottom of the sixth, Slagle recorded his 10th sacrifice hit of the season when he hunted Chance over to second. But Chance was caught stealing third.

After six: Chicago 1 Brooklyn 0.

In the top of the eighth, an error again killed the Cubs as Lewis tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the eighth, Schulte put the Cubs back in the lead with an RBI single.

Pfiester then pitched a perfect ninth to get the win.

Final score: Chicago 2 Brooklyn 1.
