Principal Financial Field opened in 2001 for the Dusters, but the move downtown brought the feel of an old-style ballpark. Its considered one of the better pitchers parks for the high walls and short fences all the way around the outfield, which fits well into Iowas defense-first style of play.

I had a bit of a hard time initially trying to figure out what to do with the outfield seating, given the high walls (20' all the way around), before realizing that I could actually put seating
under the bleachers - note the picnic-style patio seating in the left and right field corners. And your eyes aren't deceiving you, the support columns for the scoreboard are designed to resemble grain silos, and the batters eye in center is a living cornfield!
