This paragraph is contradictory. Why do they not want the to be perceived as pros? So that they can appear to be treated like ordinary students.

They gave a very light penalty on a very light offense as a way to remind people rules are rules.

Never once debated about the severity of the rule. I debated the necessity to ignore the spirit of the rule.

And there is nothing wrong with the rule at all. The idea is to ensure school teams don't find ways to have students spend more time on team activities.

Again, as I replied earlier in the thread, I was never was in the dark about why the rule existed.

If you don't like this situation, the solution isn't getting rid of NCAA. There will forever be governing bodies for organized activities. If it's not called NCAA, it'd be something else but doing the same thing.

You have the right to your opinion. I am exercising my right to believe the NCAA is an archaic organization trying to uphold an out-dated ideal and should be buried in the leather helmet era it came from.

To change the situation you'd need to change the mandate of this organized activity, and there are several different ways to do it. You can talk about those, but this incident is hardly a good starting point.
