05/25/1979 - Phillies Beat Cubs in Extras, Despite Big Game by Kingman

Dave Kingman had a good game, but he could not keep the Chicago Cubs from falling, 5-4, to the Philadelphia Phillies at Veterans Stadium. The Chicago first baseman went 4-4 with 2 home runs off RHP Dick Ruthven, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 in the loss. Chicago's current losing streak has reached 5 games.

The Phillies got a big at-bat from second baseman Manny Trillo. For the game, Trillo was 2-5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 35th hit of the season gave Philadelphia a 5-4 lead.
