06/04/1978 - Braves Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras, Cubs Skid Hits 5
Fans who gathered at Wrigley Field saw a good contest between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs.
The Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs, 4-3, at Wrigley Field. The Braves got a fine performance from third baseman Bob Horner, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Atlanta reliever Max Leon picked up the win to move to 4-1. Bruce Sutter suffered the loss.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the tenth, Glenn Hubbard hit a sacrifice fly. The Braves took the lead, 4-3.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Atlanta manager .
Chicago now has a 5-game losing streak. Slugginh first baseman Dave Kingman homered off RHP Rick Camp.
