Late season inning's fatigue -- does it exist?

At 74-42, my 2021 Cardinals are in a comfortable position in terms of the NL Central (14-plus game lead) and NL overall (eight games or so).
Which brings up the question, do I give my starters some time off in September to keep them fresh for the playoffs?
Luke Weaver and Carlos Martinez are in the top three in innings pitched and rookie Oscar De La Cruz is on pace to eclipse his career high mid-month.
Would it be wise to sit them a start or two -- or maybe more in De La Cruz's case, he's really been good and I've got a No. 1 starter in Memphis (Lewis Thorpe) I'd like to get a look at -- down the stretch?
Or does OOTP not degrade pitcher performance once they start getting to an innings total they have not seen before?
