Today is the second game in the series between the Cubs and the Giants. Yesterday's win has given the Giants a four game lead in the National League.

The Cubs placed C Johnny Kling on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to 06/05/1906.

In the top of the second, Wiltse struck out Slagle for his 40th K of the season. He went on to strike out the side after having given up a lead off single to Steinfeldt.

In the bottom of the second, McGann led off with a triple and then scored when Mertes grounded to second. Wiltse added an RBI single.

In the top of the third, Evers walked for the 20th time this season. But it would lead to nothing for the Cubs.

In the bottom of the third, Browne drove in a run with a single for his 25th RBI of the season.

Nothing of note happened in the middle innings.

In the bottom of the seventh, Strang got an RBI double. Devlin added his own RBI double. Donlin chipped in with an RBI single.

In the top of the ninth, the Cubs loaded the bases with nobody out. Steinfeldt flew to right for the first out. Sheckard flew to right for the second out. Slagle ended the shutout bid with a two-run single. Moran then knocked one in with a single, bringing the tying run to the plate in the form of pinch hitter Solly Hofman. Wiltse then set Hofman down on strikes for his 10th K of the game to seal the Giants win.

Final score: New York 6 Chicago 3.
