May 17th-May 22nd

May 17th, 2029: First fan vote update: Jackson Miller is third for catchers. Chris Reid is third for first base. Isaac Nunez is second for shortstop. Juan Ramriez is first for left field. Jarred Kelenic is first for right field. Pat Saitta is fourth for starters. Ignacio Hinojos is third for relievers.

We were hosting the Diamondbacks for a three game series. We'll send the red-hot Devon Peterson (4-1, 2.98 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) to the mound against Cole Stringer (9-3, 4.55 ERA, 1.36 WHIP). We got three in the first, and curised to a 4-1 victory.

Peterson tossed 6 innings with 4 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Pat Riely and Gene Hall tossed perfect frames to get holds, and Chad Scoles got a strikeout in a perfect 9th for the save.

Juan Ramirez and Juan Simental were both 2-for-4 with run sscored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a base clearing triple in the first. Parker Meadows was 1-for-1 with a steal. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a double. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

May 18th, 2029: Daylen Lile and Isaac Nunez are both heading to Jupiter for rehab assignments.

We looked to win the series a day early with Steve Paustian (4-2, 5.08 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) looking to thaw his cold streak against Marius Balandis (1-2, 4.32 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). He wasn't terrible, but wasn't good, and the D'Backs evened the series with a 4-2 win.

Paustian went 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 44 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. The pen combined for 3.2 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-3 with a double. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with an RBI and walk.

Mariners CF Sean Foote was an impressive 6-for-6 in a 15-4 win over the Athletics.

May 19th, 2029: We looked to win the finale with Luis Ardon (4-3, 5.05 ERA, 1.51 WHIP) taking on Tyrese Comier (2-0, 3.55 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). The offense was non-existent, and we were shut out 2-0 in the finale.

Ardon, who needs to be replaced, went just 4 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Ignacio Hinojos went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Josh Brown tossed 2.1 perfect frames with 2 strikeouts.

Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a double. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jorge Tapia was 1-for-3 with a double. Sergio Tello had a pinch hit double.

Here's a funny story: Isaac Nunez increased his hit streak to 25 games. This is while playing for Jupiter, where he's 3-for-9 in 2 games this year, 3-for-10 in 3 games in 2025, and then a full season for the Clearwater Thrashers in 2022. So this 25 game hit streak has spanned 8 seasons!

The Braves will come to town for three. We'll see Garrison Bryant (0-1, 1.42 ERA), Curt Schneider (1-4, 3.95 ERA), and Juan Ochoa (4-2, 2.63 ERA).

May 20th, 2029: We opened the series with the Braves with ace Pat Saitta (5-2, 2.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on Garrison Bryant (0-1, 1.42 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) who is making just his second start of the year after 12 relief appearences. We got a pair of runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th, to take the opener 6-3.

Saitta tossed 6.1 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Kelenic got the win, 0.2 innigns with a hit. Hall and Luis Alcantra shared the 8th for holds, and Chad Scoles struck out 2 in the 9th for the save.

Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a walk. Rogleio Maldonado was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a double, hit by pitch, and 2 RBI's. Juan Simental was 1-for-3 with a two run homer, 2 runs, and walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Kelenic was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Nunez's hit streak was ended today, as he was 0-for-4 as his former team, the Clearwater Thrashers, shut the Hammerheads out 2-0. Him and Lile will join the team after this series.

May 21st, 2029: Down in New Orleans, former Phillie J.P. Crawford was named Player of the Week. He hit .407 with 3 homers and 6 RBI's.

We dropped to 4th in the Power Rankings. At 31-15, we have a 7.5 game lead over the Phillies.

The middle game of the series saw the scorching hot C.J. Jorgensen (3-2, 3.56 ERA, 0.99 WHIP) take on Curt Schneider 1-4, 3.95 ERA, 1.41 WHIP). He was solid today, and we shut them out 2-0.

Jorgensen went 6 with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Alcantra, Jake Yaerick, and Kelenic got holds with Scoles picking up the save. Kelenic struck out 2 in the 8th, and has pitched really well this year.

Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Noah Smithw as 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-3 with a walk.

May 22nd, 2029: Toronto righty Joe Perez is out for the year with shoulder inflammation. He was 0-6 with a 6.68 ERA in 10 starts that likely could have gone better.

We looked to finish the sweep with Devon Peterson (5-1, 2.82 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) looking to stay hot against Juan Ochoa (4-2, 2.63 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) who's been cold as of late, despite the excellent statline. After 9, the game was tied at 2. In the 11th, Ronald Acuna had a 2-run single and the Braves scored 3. We got 1 back in the bottom half, but the Braves edged us 5-3 to salvage the finale.

Mac Horvath left with an injury...

Peterson tossed 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Jake Yearick blew the save, 0.2 innigns with 2 hits, 2 runs, and a walk. C.J. LaFever got the loss, an inning with 5 hits and 3 runs.

Gregorio Alvarenga was 4-for-5 with 2 RBI's. Juan Ramairez was 2-for-5 with a steal and hit by pitch. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-6 with a run scored and RBI. Parker Meadows was 1-for-1 with a double and run scored. He's hitting .448/.500/.724 in 29 at bats, mostly off the bench. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 walks.

Well, I was going to send Maldonado down and callup Nunez, but with the Horvath injury, I'll hold off on that. I will option Sergio Tello to AAA and recall Daylen Lile despite his struggles on rehab.

We get tomorrow off before heading to Milwaukee!
