Size... If you set a limit, you may see the AI releasing players that should be retained. If you have no limit, the AI will horde players, particularly useless relievers, that should be released and retired. I have found that v19 is better about decision-making when it comes to releasing players, so I go with a limit in this version. A number between 15 and 40 will work well. I usually go with double the active roster, i.e. 25.
Draft... really has nothing to do with reserve rosters vs. minors. It is more about how you want to have the talent distributed in your league.
Finances... the biggest issue here is the lack of minor league options with reserve rosters. It is too easy to horde talent, and to make moves between the active and reserve rosters. I have been meaning to experiment with setting the service time for minor league free agency to a low number in order to combat the talent hording, but I wonder if the players would just accept a renewed minor league contract and stay there anyway.
