Preseason
February 2nd, 2029: The preseason starts today, which means baseball is ever so close!
The San Diego Padres signed 1B Andy Bostic to a 6-year, $72.6 million contract. He owns a career .275/.368/.489 lilne with 140 homers and 473 RBI's.
February 5th, 2029: The Cincinnati Reds signed former Marlin righty John Curtiss to a 1-year, $4,960,000 contract. He's pitched in 712 games with a 4.46 ERA and 1,024 strikeouts in 813.1 innings.
February 6th, 2029: The Yankees signed RHP Zach Young to a 1-year, $3,040,000 contract. The former 10th rounder has very little big league experience, 29.2 innings with the Astros and Mariners with 24 strikeouts, a 3.64 ERA, and 1.42 WHIP.
The Seattle Pilots and Washington Senators made an inter-expansion trade, with the Pilots recieving former Marlin CF Cole Brannen and the Senators grabbing RHP Jhonneyver Gutierrez. It's a fair swap for both teams.
February 15th, 2029: I traded 2B Nesty Cirese to the Yankees for SS Chris Shaughnessy.
Schaugnhessy, 25, is rated a 1.5/2.5 and is an elite defender at short who can play second, third, left, and right as well. He's got a decent bat and decent speed, and fills a similar role to Cirese, but with all this options and a minor league contract.
*Sidenote: It looks like there is going to be no interleague play this year. I can't get the schedule to give interleague play (even with the box checked) and I'm terrible at making schedules.
February 19th, 2029: The Boston Red Sox sent RHP Luis Escolastico to the Nationals for 3B Luis Camarena and RF Jimmy Ingram. It's a decenet deal both ways with the slight advantage to Washington.
I claimed CF Marcio Zarate off waivers from the Yankees and sent him to A Greensboro. The 22-year-old has elite speed, is a plus-plus defender in center, and rated a 2.5* potential. He's got a great eye, but needs to keep working on the offensive side of his game.
Spring Training is next!
