09/13/1976 - Mets Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras as Kingman Homer Wins It
The New York Mets got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Nino Espinosa, but it was good enough for the club to take a 6-5 decision over the Pittsburgh Pirates. New York is now 75-66, 5½ games up in the NL East Division.
The Mets got a big at-bat from first baseman Dave Kingman. For the game, Kingman was 1 for 5 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the 12th, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run off RHP Bob Moose. His 35th home run of the season gave New York a 6-5 lead.
