Joe Torre of the Mets was unstoppable in today's 5-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies at Shea Stadium. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.

"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the New York third baseman after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will."

Joe Torre singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Thus far this year Torre has hit .282 with 4 home runs and 35 RBIs

Kingman homered off RHP Jim Lonborg.
