08/20/1976 - Victory Pushes Mets Record to 64-59

New York center fielder Bruce Boisclair had a 3-RBI game, leading his team in its 5-3 defeat of the San Diego Padres. Boisclair picked up 3 singles and 1 double in the ballgame. Jon Matlack, the winner, improved to 14-6. He held the Padres to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Bob Apodaca got the save, his 17th in 22 chances.

Dave Kingman, who leads the NL in RBI with 90, chipped in for New York with a 2-run home run in the top of the first off LHP Bob Owchinko. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"It feels good to get this one," Kingman told the New York Today.
