Have you tried creating a league with your favorite hometown in it?
You could start from the beginning of baseball and see how your team stacks up against all the other "major league" teams. Can you win a world series?
You could also rename all the players you draft to people you know in real life. That way your hometown team is filled with people you know and care about. It might add another element to the game if you haven't tried it yet.
