August 1st, 1884 Standings/Statistics

August 1st, 1884 - I accidently had an interleague game scheduled between the Philadelphia Quakers and the Milwaukee Brewers. There's nothing I can do about it, the game will count. For the record, the Brewers won. It's a pain for me though because I have to manipulate the UA Standings image until the Brewers join the league for real and start to lose some games.

At any rate, the Chicago White Stockings are clinging to a 2 game lead over those pesky Cleveland Blues. Cap Anson has 20 home runs, and is having a homerun race with Philadelphia Keystones Harry Stovey of the UA, who currently has 19 homeruns. In the American Association, the Philadelphia Athletics continue to dominate thanks to yet another legendary year from starter Bobby Mathews (32-2 / 0.83 ERA). Mathews has an incredible WAR of 26.9 for the season. He also has 491 strikeouts. Toledo, at 4 1/2 games back, is really the only that has been able to pace the Athletics.
In the Union Association, the red hot St. Louis Maroons have overtaken the Philadelphia Keystones, where they hold a 2 1/2 game lead.
