Stats determine rating changes?

Do ratings ever change based on prior years stats? For example, if I have 50 (20/80) rated power stat hitter who cranks 60 HRs one year, will his power rating improve the following year?

Or is everything determined based on Age, coaching, and TCR?

Also using the same example above, if he is 35 and does the same performance is it guaranteed the rating will drop next year due to age?

I'd like to see some real life examples like Curtis Granderson who had 19, 23, 22 HRs with the Tigers but then exploded for 41 and 43 HRs with the yankees. Based on that if Granderson had 60 (20/80) power by 2011 when he hit 41, it would be cool to see power increase to 70 or so for the next year when he will hit 43. I know this works for historical sims using real life stats but im talking for modern games of 2018 and beyond.
