INJURY REPORT: CORY ADAMS
Our medical team have confirmed that the injury sustained by Cory Adams in this afternoon’s 4-3 victory over the Sacramento Stingrays is less serious than first thought. When struck on the arm by the comebacker, we initially feared he had broken his elbow, but fortunately x-rays have revealed no broken or fractured bones.
He does, however, have elbow inflammation and will not be able to pitch for a couple of days. He will then need to throw some simulated innings, and all told will not be able to return to the active roster for one week. This means he will certainly not be available for his next scheduled start. I understand you are considering placing him on the 15-day disabled list, and from a medical perspective I would welcome this decision to ensure his injury is fully healed before his next competitive pitch.
