Complete Challenger League Coverage Weeks 5 and 6
Archers remain on top
The Tawa Archers continue their march to the Premier League, putting up a 7-1 record over the last two weeks. The boys from Sagittaron are getting a big boost from left fielder Stu Petipas, who is second in the league in OBP, and 4th in runs scored. The Archer pitching has left something to be desired this year, as they are in the bottom half of the league in ERA, so if they are in contention, look for them to maybe make a move for some pitching help at the trade deadline.
Welcome back Michael
Last year’s Globe of Atlas winner Michael Attrill came off the DL just in time for week 5, and picked up right where he left off. In the 8 games since he has returned, Attrill has hit 5 home runs, 8 RBI, and has hit just over .350. His return has helped the Galaxy turn things around, as they split the series with the Gaiam wolves, then took 3 of 4 from the Kyros Storm.
Moore continues to dominate
Promethea ace Harold Moore has been named the CCL Pitcher of the Month. Moore won the Zeus’s Lightning trophy last season, and is keeping his incredible roll going. Moore went 4-0 in 5 starts in April, amassing 40 strikeouts and putting up a 1.85 ERA in 34 innings of work.
Matchup of the Week Results
As mentioned above, the Tawa Archers stayed hot as they took 3 of 4 from the Hedon Lions. Closer Macartan Monkmon picked up all 3 of the saves, bringing his save streak to 20 games. The Lions hit a bit of a skid over the past two weeks, losing 3 of 4 to both the Archers and the Hidden Bay Arrows. It was an on-theme but poor two weeks for the Lions.
Matchup of the Week
The Managla Krill take on the Opadea Galaxy in a series that could vault one of the teams to the top of the table. Both teams are hanging around at the 4 games back mark, and a 3-1 or 4-0 series win could do wonders for either team’s post-season chances.
