June 28th-July 3rd

June 28th, 2019: We opened the series in New York with the first place Yankees, as Drew Pomeranz (3-4, 5.10 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) battled Sonny Gray (4-6, 4.26 ERA, 1.47 WHIP). Pomeranz was lit up in his first start against the Bronx Bombers, but this start was much different, as the game was tied at one heading into the 9th. We broke free for 5 in the top half to take a 6-1 lead, but allowed them to get 2 more in the bottom. Once the dust cleared, we came out on top 6-3 to do what we couldn't do at home; beat the Yankees.

Pomeranz was excellent, 7 innings with 7 hits, a run, and 7 strikeouts. Bryan Shaw got the win, an inning of work with 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout. Miguel Castro finished the 9th when Shaw couldn't, allowing 2 hits, a walk, and a run while getting a strike out and ground out.

Tim Beckham was 1-for-3 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a big three run homer. Yolmer Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jose Peraza was 1-for-2 with a RBI. Jose Iglesais came off the bench and was 1-for-1 with a double and run scored. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

June 29th, 2019: Game two saw Kevin Gausman (6-4, 5.11 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) face Luis Severino (5-3, 4.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). We couldn't crack Severino, and lossed 4-1 as the Yanks tied the series back up.

Gausman went 6.1 innings with 8 htis, 4 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Kelvin Herrera went 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-2 with a walk, RBI, and double. Trey Macnini was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jose Peraza was 1-for-3 with a double.

June 30th, 2019: The Brewers will be without RHP Oliver Drake for the year with a damaged elbow ligmaent. In 48 relief appearences, he tossed 38 innings with a 6.87 ERA and 41 strikeouts.

Fan vote update: Schoop third for 2B. Britton third for RP.

We looked to win the finale with Nathan Eovaldi (3-4, 5.35 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) taking on Mashiaro Tanaka (3-4, 5.56 ERA, 1.28 WHIP). They got 8 in the 4th, and killed us 14-5. I need to upgrade my SP...

Eovaldi allowed 7 in 3.2 innings with 6 hits, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Miguel Castro allowed 4 runs off 2 hits with 2 walks. And he didn't get an out... Jake Diekman went 2.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Kelvin Herrera tossed an inning with a hit, run, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Only Boone Logan (1 inning and 2 hits) didn't allow a run.

Tim Beckham was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, 2 RBI's, and a double. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a walk and solo homer. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with 2 walks, a double, and run scored.

Off to Washington for three in the Beltway series. We'll see former Oriole Wade Miley (4-4, 4.78 ERA), Gio Gonzalez (2-6, 5.42 ERA), and Stephen Strasbug (9-2, 2.11 ERA).

July 1st, 2019: I started the month with a pitching upgrade, acquiring SP Shelby Miller and cash considerations from Arizona for Miguel Castro.

An upcoming free agent, Miller is a 2.5* pitcher who is 5-5 with a 3.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 15 starts. He'll jump in to the #2 spot behind Aaron Sanchez.

Down in Norfolk, Lucas Sims was named International League Pitcher of the Month. The 25-year-old was 4-0 with a 0.94 ERA in 4 starts with 38 strikeouts in 28.2 innings. He's 9-2 with a 2.81 ERA on the season with the Tides, but was roughed up in his only big league start.

We went up a spot to 10th in the Power Rankings. At 44-33, we are the 1st Wild Card team.

Speaking of Sanchez (6-4,2.63 ERA, 0.89 WHIP), he'd open the Beltway Series against Wade Miley (4-4, 4.78 ERA, 1.33 WHIP), a former teammate. We got four int he first, and that proved to be enough for the 4-2 win.

Sanchez was great as ever (and now a 4.5*), going 7 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, and 9 strikeouts. Boone Logan got a hold before Zach Britton got his 19th save.

Lewis brinson was 1-for-4 with a three run homer after both Alford and Peraza got on base. Alford was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and run scored while Peraza was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Tim Beckham was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Chances Sisco was 2-for-4.

Yankees LHP Hidetsugu Nakasone tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the Braves.

Down in the GCL, CF Brennen Davis hit for the cycle in a 17-3 win over the Blue Jays GCL team. He was 5-for-6.

July 2nd, 2019: The international pool was published today! There are two guys I really like.

Game two saw Shelby Miller (5-5, 3.89 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) make his Orioles debut against southpaw Gio Gonzalez (2-6, 5.42 ERA, 1.70 WHIP). It was another close one, but the Nats edged us out 2-1 to even the series.

Miller pitched fine, 6 innings with 8 hits, 2 runs, and 8 strikeouts. Three relievers combined for two innings with a strike out.

Yolmer Sanchez was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and triple. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

July 3rd, 2019: The Angles will be without SP Andrew Heaney for the year with a torn flexor tendon. He was 6-6 with a 6.39 ERA in 16 starts.

The Yankees added to their pen, acquiring LHP Luis Avilan from the White Sox for LHP Conor Bezy and C Nick Dalesandro. I love this trade for the Chi-Sox.

We needed to win this series, with Drew Pomeranz (3-4, 4.76 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) taking on Stephen Strasburg (9-2, 2.11 ERA, 0.99 WHIP). They scored 7 runs in the first two innings and took the finale 10-6.

Pomeranz had a rough outing, 2.1 innings with 10 hits, 8 runs, a walk, and a strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez, now in the pen, tossed 3 innings with 3 hits, 3 strike outs, and an unearned run. Bryan Shaw allowed a run and hit with 2 strikeouts in 2 innings.

Tim Beckham was 2-for-4 with a walk, triple, and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles. Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-5 with a solo shot.

Indians CF Bradley Zimmer hit 3 homers in a 5-3 loss to the A's. Yes, he hit 3 homers and loss, since they were all solo shots.

Looking to bolster the team before an off day, I sent in a two big offers to improve the team. I feel like we are really close to getting over the hump.
