May 30th-June 5th

May 30th, 2019: We had today off.

I traded Ian Desmond and Mike Clevinger to the Royals for Ian Kennedy with all his salary retained by the Royals. I then traded him and CF Cedric Mullins to the Rockies for Bryan Shaw with all his contract retained.

Shaw, 31, is rated a 3.5* and has a 1.80 ERA and 0.89 WHIP this year with 27 strike outs in 24.2 innings.

The Rangers come to town for three, and we'll see Chad Bettis (1-3, 5.05 ERA), Ervin Santana (2-4, 8.51 ERA), and Yohander Mendez (2-3, 2.70 ERA).

May 31st, 2019: I optioned Max Fried to AAA to make room for Shaw. Nathan Eovaldi weill re-enter the rotation.

We opened the series against Texas with Drew Pomeranz (2-1, 3.98 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) taking on Chad Bettis (1-3, 5.05 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). It was a great pitching outing, and we shut them out 6-0.

Pomeranz went 7, allowing just 3 hits and a walk, with 7 strikeouts. Mychal Givens tossed the last 2 innings, walking 2 and striking out 2.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a double, and homer. Anthony Alford was 2-for-5 with a steal and run scored. Victor Reyes was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and double. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's and a sac-fly.

Tyson Ross of the Diamondbacks tossed a 2-hit shut out in a 5-0 win over the Giants.

June 1st, 2019: We started June with Kevin Gausman (3-4, 6.85 ERA, 1.70 WHIP) taking on Adrian Sampson who is making his first start of the year. We scored 7 runs in the first 2 innings and won 9-4.

Gausman went 6, allowing just 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk, and he struck out 7. Mychal Givens went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, an unearned run, and a walk. Pedro Araujo went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 walks.

Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, a walk, and 2 home runs. Trey Mancini was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, and a homer. Chance Sisco was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Yolmer Sanchez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and steal. Victor Reyes was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Jose Peraza was 1-for-4 with a steal and run scored.

July 2nd, 2019: All-Star voting numbers were announced. Jonathan Schoop is third for second base and Zach Britton is third for relievers.

We looked to finish off the sweep with Aaron Sanchez (4-3, 2.94 ERA, 0.86 WHIP) taking on Yohander Mendez (2-3, 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP). The offense went off, and we crushed them 13-3.

Sanchez didn't pitch too well, 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and just a strike out. Kelvin Herrera went 3.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 5 strike outs. He got the win.

Chance Sisco was 3-for-4 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, 2 doubles, hit by pitch, and a homer. Trey Mancini was 3-for-4 with a three run homer and hit by pitch. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-5 with a run scored, double, and 2 RBI's. Anthony Alford was 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 2 walks. Jose Peraza was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, and RBI.

The Angles come to town for three before the Amateur Draft. We'll see Andrew Heaney (4-3, 5.34 ERA), Shoehi Ohtani (8-1, 1.78 ERA), and Matt Shoemaker (1-6, 7.33 ERA).

June 3rd, 2019: At 34-19, we rank 3rd in the Power Rankings.

We opened the series with Erasmo Ramirez (2-1, 2.85 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) taking on Andrew Heaney (4-3, 5.34 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). It was a close one, but they edged us 5-3.

Ramriez went 5, allowing 8 hits, 3 runs, and he strck out 3. Shaw made his debut for us, 0.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 2 walks. Zach Britton pitched the 9th, allowing a run off 3 walks and a strike out.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tim Beckham was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jonathan Schoop was also 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. Victor Reyes was 1-for-5 with a run scored and steal.

June 4th, 2019: Game two saw Nathan Eovaldi (3-1, 4.47 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) take on Shoehi Ohtani (8-1, 1.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). We couldn't score off the young phenom, and were shutout 4-0.

Eovaldi went 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out 3. Joakim Soria allowed a run off 2 hits in an inning of work.

Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with a walk and double. Jose Iglesias was 1-for-2 with a walk. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3. Lewis Brinson was 0-for-1 with a walk and hit by pitch.

I optioned Mychal Givens to AAA for Miguel Castro, who finished his rehab.

June 5th, 2019: Before the draft, we had to avoid getting swept by the Angels. Drew Pomeranz (3-1, 3.51 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) faced Matt Shoemaker (1-6, 7.33 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) in the finale. We gor three in the second, and one the finale 4-2.

Pomeranz went 4.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeoiuts. Boone Logan got the win, 1.1 innings with 3 strikeouts. Bryan Shaw and Jake Diekman got holds before Zach Britton got the save.

Lewis BRinson was 2-for-4 with a double and two run homer. Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with a walk, steal, run scored, and RBI. Jonatahn Schoop was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Victor Reyes was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 walks. Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and RBI.

Rafael Devers went 5-for-5 and Chad De La Guerra was 5-for-6 as the Red Sox out slugged the Blue Jays 13-11.

Bradley Zimmer hit three homers in a 7-5 Indians win over the Rangers.

Odubel Herrera extended his hit streak to 20 games.
