So far I've always played with rookies assigned to historical teams. Now I want to play a draft game. I think.

So if rookies aren't assigned to historical teams what about players drafted in prior years and who historically were somewhere in the farm system at the start year of the game.

Example. Game starts in 1986. A player was drafted in 1984. He was in the minors through 1987 and made it to the majors 1988. Does he end up with his historical team? If not, when and how does he become available in the game?
