May 8th-May 14th
May 8th, 2026: His diagnosis is still pending, but I placed Austin Hendrick on the DL to recall Jarred Kelenic from his rehab assignment.
Kelenic returend to the lineup and hit 2nd and played RF. Devon Peterson (3-1, 2.92 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) took on Lenny Torres (1-2, 3.31 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) as we welcomed the Cardinals to Marlins Park. And like usual, it was sold out. It feels weird saying that. Sadly, the home fans didn't see a win, and the Cardinals improved to 9-22 with a 7-6 win. We should've won...
Peterson allowed 4 runs (3 earned) off 6 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings with 4 strikeouts. Brennan Malone allowed 2 runs in an inning with 2 hits. Ernesto Estrella got the loss, 3 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 3 strikeouts.
Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer and steal. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a two run homer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch, double, and RBI in his return to the lineup. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Cole Roederer was 1-for-4 with a steal, sac-bunt, and 2 runs scored.
Aaron Judge hit his 400th career homer in a 8-6 Yankees win over the Reds. The 34-year-old is a career .239/.354/.519 hitter with 895 career RBI's in 1,384 career games.
May 9th, 2026: We looked to even the series with Marc Bjork (0-0, 5.68 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) making his first career start agains former Marlin Joe LaBrie (1-3, 3.48 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). Bjork is a starter naturally, but has pitched out of the pen a lot for us. We tried to blow it, but we barely held on for a 6-4 win.
Bjork pitched well, 7 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers got a hold, although he tried for the save, allowing a run off a hit and 2 walks with a strikeout. Hyo-jin Yaung got the last two outs, including a strikeout, to earn his first save of the year.
Vladdy was a perfect 3-for-3 with a two run homer, solo homer, and walk. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a two run homer. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a double, a steal, and RBI. Cole Roederer was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and steal.
Rockies SS Vidal Brujan was 5-for-6 in a 17-4 win over the Cubs. I really wish I got something of value when I traded him, but Coors Field has really been kind to him.
May 10th, 2026: Austin Hendrick was diagnosed with a oblique strain, and will miss about 5-6 weeks. After his 10 day time runs out, I'm going to option him to AAA to save service time.
The Cubs will be without CL Dylan Cease for the year with bone chips in his elbow. The always injured Cease had 2 saves and a 1.04 ERA in 17.1 innings.
We looked to win the series with Jordan Montgomery (4-1, 2.24 ERA, 0.81 WHIP) taking on Jon Sullivan (0-5, 6.99 ERA, 2.05 WHIP). According to the game, we have the position advantage at all 9 lineup spots. Don't let Sullivan's stats decieve you though, the former 2nd overall pick back in 2023 is rated a 2.5/4.5 and looks like a stuf. Montgomery was great again, and we won the finale 4-1.
Monty went just 5.2 innings, with 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Greg Walston and Yaung earned holds before Quivers got his 12th save of the year. All three guys struck out 2 hitters.
Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a solo homer, 3 runs scored, and a walk. Cole Roederer was 1-for-2 with 2 walks, a steal, a run scored, and a double. Jr. was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.
Tomorrow is an off day, before the Braves come to town for three.
May 11th, 2026: Garrett McDaniels will head to AAA to begin a rehab assignment. He's not on the 40-man roster, and my 40 is currently full, so he will probably be down there a while.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was named Player of the Week, as he hit .609 with 3 homers, 9 RBI's, and 7 runs. For the season, he's hitting .269 with 4 homers and 22 RBI's.
We're alos up to 5th in the Power Rankings. At 21-13, we are just 3 games out of first.
Atlanta comes to town for three. We'd see Ken Harty (1-2, 5.93 ERA), Ty Madden (1-3, 3.34 ERA), and Ian Bedell (2-0, 3.69 ERA).
May 12th, 2026: Today's game will be between players traded for each other: Mike Soroka (1-4, 7.07 ERA, 1.70 WHIP) and Ken Harty (1-2, 5.93 ERA, 1.58 WHIP). It was a shocking pitcher's duel, and we edged the visitors 2-1.
I did lose two players to injury. Jarred Kelenic will head to the DL for 3 weeks with a hamstring strain. Greg Walston will miss 5 games with a finger blister, although I think I may option him to AAA to recall Ben Popkin from his rehab assignment.
Soroka went 5, allowing 7 hits, with a run, 4 walks, and 8 strikeouts. The rest of the pen went 4 innings with a hit and 5 strikeouts. Walston got the win, the hit in 0.2 innings. Jorge Moya got a hold, 1.1 innings with 3 strikeouts. Quivers got the save, striking out the last two batters of the game.
The reinging player of the week was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Kelenic was 1-for-2 with an RBi double before leaving with injury. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-3 with a double.
May 13th, 2026: I optioned Walston to recall Popkin, and recalled LF Matt Hogan from AAA. Hogan, a former Cub prospect, will be in line to make his debut.
The Rays will be without 2B Willi Castro for the year with a concussion. He was hitting .330 with 5 homers and 17 RBI's in 109 at bats this season.
We looked to keep winning with Jake Florence (2-1, 2.87 ERA, 1.70 WHIP) facing Ty Madden (1-3, 3.34 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). The speedy Hogan will leadoff and play LF in his major league debut. The Braves got three in the first, and ended up winning 6-3.
Florence went jsut 3, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out 2. Brennan Malone went an inning with 2 htis, 2 runs, and 3 walks. Jorge Moya allowed a run in 1.1 innings with a hit, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Igancio Hinojos struck out 4 in 1.2 innings.
Matt Hogan had a great debut, 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a solo homer, steal, and 2 runs scored. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 1-for-3 with an RBI and walk.
May 14th, 2026: We looked to win another series with Devon Peterosn (3-1, 3.29 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Ian Bedell (2-0, 3.69 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). It was a close one, but we got 3 in the second and one more in the 6th to win the finale 4-3.
Peterson went just 4.1 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, and 5 strikeouts. Ben Popkin got a win in his season debut, going 1.2 innings with a walk and strikeout. Hinojos and Yaung got holds and Quivers got the save. Hinojos struck out 4 and walked 1 in 1.1 innings.
Cole Roederer was 3-for-4 with a double, homer, and 4 RBI's. He needed just a triple for the cycle. Dermott MacGregor was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and a double. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-3 and was hit by a pitch.
Fun fact about the division: generally an over powering division, just the Nationals (25-12) and us (23-14) are over .500. Atlanta (16-18), Philly (16-20), and the Mets (13-23) are all struggling this year. The NL as a whole isn't that good, with the Brewers (21-17), Pirates (20-18), Dodgers (23-15), Padres (22-17), and D'Backs (22-17) the only teams over .500.
Andrew Benintendi was 5-for-5 in a 21-4 Red Sox domination of the Rays.
Houston comes to town for three, and we'll see Marcos Molina (2-4, 6.08 ERA), Luke Weaver (1-2, 4.05 ERA), and Yeremi Ceballos (3-1, 1.91 WHIP).May 8th, 2026: His diagnosis is still pending, but I placed Austin Hendrick on the DL to recall Jarred Kelenic from his rehab assignment.
