Valentino Pascucci, Bucky Jacobsen, Scott McClain, Brian Dallimore, and... Bob Hart?
... and Bob Hart? One of my favorite things in OOTP is finding guys that have languished in AAA for eons and putting them to work. Last season I sacrificed some defense at 3B for a 25 year old guy that should have brought some power to the lineup. But he didn't, and by July he had played himself onto the bench while I played a slap-hitter type (It's the 70s) instead who outhit him.
This winter I wasn't planning to make a change at 3B but when I shopped a surplus minor leaguer Calgary offered me this guy Bob Hart:
so I'm going to plug him in batting second (which is where the lackluster kid batted last year) and hope he can get on base a lot while adding plus defense for the groundball pitching staff. And he was born a few blocks from his new team's ballpark
This seems to be a thing the AI often does; each time I start a game (especially after simming some history) I find one or two guys in AAA that should be starting. When I started managing in the 1970 season there was a Boog Powell-type 1B that was 38 years old and had only taken a handful of ML at-bats so I added him as a bench guy on and off during the season just for fun.
Have you found any interesting career AAA guys that you couldn't resist getting some major league service time?
