Boosting Batting Averages

Hey folks. Advice needed from you guys to pay more attention than I do to overall league statistics.

I play in my own fictional world, with about 20 years of simulated history. I’m currently managing a low-A team, and I realized that batting averages are down all over the league.

For example, the league leading hitter has a .337 batting average, but he is totally an outlier. The next highest batting average is .284, and this is 110 games into the season. On my team, there isn’t a single player batting over .250, and only a handful are even over .200.

I would love for batting averages to have a similar distribution to the MLB, but I certainly don’t need it to be perfect, and I don’t want to unbalance anything.

I don’t typically mess with league totals, and I really haven’t researched this issue at any other level in my game, or looked to see if it’s a pattern over multiple years.

For you people who pay more attention to this stuff, what would you suggest I do to research further, and what would you suggest I tweak if I want those averages to trend upwards?

Thanks all!
