September 12th-September 18th

September 12th, 2025: We start a nice long homestand with a four game series against the Phillies. Walker Buehler (8-6, 2.50 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) took on Mashiaro Tanka (4-10, 5.13 ERA, 1.24 WHIP), and both starters have struggled against their opponent. Up 4-3, Jorge Moya allowed a 2 run homer to Jackie Bradley Jr. In the bottom hald, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a run scoring single off former Marlin Jimmy Sherfy to tie the game. In the 10th, Isaac Nunez had a walkoff single off Jordan Gubelman, and we took the opener 6-5.

Buehler had a rough outing, 4.1 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 6 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Shoehi Ohtani went 1.2 innings with a hit, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Hyo-jin Yaung struck out the side in the 8th to earn a hold. Moya was charged with 2 runs off a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers tossed a perfect 10th, striking out 2 and earning the win.

Austin Hendrick was 3-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, a run scored, and two driven in. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with a double and the walk off single. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI's. Cole Roederer was 1-for-4 with a double, walk, and run scored. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and run driven in.

September 13th, 2025: Devonte Brown was activated from the AAA DL and recalled.

The White Sox will be without RHP Matt Andriese for the rest of the season, although he should be ready for Spring Training. His story is an interesting one: after spending parts of 2015-2018 with the Rays, he spent 2019-2023 in AAA with multiple organizations before returning to the majors in 2024. He only tossed 2.1 innings in the majors this year, but he was 1-1 with a 19.29 ERA and 3.86 WHIP.

Mike Soroka (8-10, 3.26 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) took on Steve Fettig (15-4, 3.05 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) in the second game of the series. We got 3 key insurance runs in the 5th and it was critical on the path to a 7-2 win.

Soroka went 7.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and he struck out 6. Jorge Moya got out of a bases loaded, zero outs jam that Luis Ardon created, and was credited with 2 strikeouts and a save.

Isaac Nunez was 3-for-4 and a triple away from the cycle. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 runs. The pitcher Soroka was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a triple, run scored, and RBI.

September 14th, 2025: We looked to keep rolling with Steve Paustian (8-5, 4.26 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) taking on our former 1st Round Pick Josh Weske (4-8, 4.42 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). Tied 2-2 heading into the 9th, Caleb Balgaard got a pinch hit, walkoff single off Gubelman to finish off a thirlling 3-2 win.

Dylan Cease left with an injury, and his diagonsis is still pending...

Paustian piutched well, 6.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Hyo-jin Yaung got the win, striking out 2 in a perfect 9th.

Austin Hedges was 1-for-2 with a solo homer and sac fly. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored.

Manny Machado was 5-for-5 in an 18-7 Giants win over Arizona. Brady Singer tossed a 2-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in a 6-0 Mets win over the Nationals.

September 15th, 2025: Cease was diagnosed with a sprained ankle, and will be day to day for just 2 days.

At 86-59 and just 2 games out of first, we hopped over Atlanta for #1 in the Power Rankings, with the Mets right behind them.

We looked to finish the four game sweep with Jake Florence (10-9, 3.54 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) taking on former 12th Round PIck Jonathan Childress (0-0, 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP), who is making his first career start after 6 relief appearences all in this season. We couldn't cap off the sweep, and dropped the finale 6-2.

Florence went just 2.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and striking out just 2. A.J. Labas allowed 3 more runs off 4 hits and 3 walks in 1.2 innings. The rest of the pen pitched 5, 1-hit innings with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.

Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-3 with a two run homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk and double. Labas and Hyo-jin Yaung were both 1-for-1 as pitchers hitting for themselves.

The Mets come to town for three to finish our 7 game home stretch, although we do have three more home games after a day off. We'll see Francisco Morales (4-2, 4.26 ERA), Livio Montella (2-7, 5.23 ERA), and Michael Wacha (7-8, 3.26 ERA).

September 16th, 2025: Angels righty Vince Velasquez ruptured his unlar collateral ligament, and will most likely miss all of next year. He was 5-7 with a 4.93 ERA in 80.1 innings with 93 hits and 68 strikeouts.

A packed Marlins Park got to see the opener in the Marlins-Mets series that saw Jordan Montgomery (0-1, 10.80 ERA, 2.70 WHIP) duel Francisco Morales (4-2, 4.26 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). We were up 4-2 heading to the 9th, but the Mets got two off Moya to send it to Extras. They then took a 5-4 lead in the 11th. Thomas Dillard took Lupe Chavez deep to tie up the game, but fast foward to the 13th, and Ahmed Rosario hit a go-ahead grand slam off Joseph Jarneski, and the visitors took the opener 9-5.

Max Marusak left with back stiffness, and he'll head to the DL.

Montgomery pitched fine, 6 innings with 9 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts in his third start of the year. Ernesto Estrella, Chasen Shreve, Alpha Quivers, and Greg Walston got holds before Moya blew the save with 2 hits and 2 runs. Dinelso Lamet pitched 2 innings and allowed 2 hits and an unearned run with 4 strikeouts. Jarneski got just 1 out, and allowed 3 hits and 4 runs.

Thomas Dillard was 2-for-6 with a double, homer, and 3 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Austin Hendrick was 3-for-6 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Caleb Balgaard was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored.

September 17th, 2025: We looked to bounce back with Walker Buehler (8-6, 2.55 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) taking on Livio Montella (2-7, 5.23 ERA, 1.53) who's making just his 2nd start of the year after 59 relief appearences. 'El Torito' is actaully a very promising pitching prospect who still has a lot of developing to do. We did just enough to come away with a 4-2 win to even the series.

Buehler went just 5, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and he struck out 5. Dylan Cease tossed 2 innings with a hit, walk, adn 2 strikeouts to get the win. Chasen Shreve struck out the side in the 8th to earn a hold, while Jorge Moya got two strikeouts in the 9th for a save.

Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a solo omer. Caleb Balgaard was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. Isaac Nunez was 0-for-2 with 2 runs and 2 walks.

September 18th, 2025: I activated Lazaro Armenteros from the DL today.

We looked to win the rubber match with Mike Soroka (9-10, 3.22 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) facing Michael Wacha (7-8, 3.26 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). Soroka is 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA against the Mets this year, so let's hope that can change today. He was brilliant, and we won the finale 6-1.

Soroka tossed 5.1 scorless innings with 2 hits and 5 strikeouts. He also doubled, again. Ohtani tossed 2.2 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Kenyon Yovan pitched the 9th, allowing 2 hits and a run.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 3-for-4 with a two run homer, his 38th of the season. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a solo homer, his 41st of the year. With 2 more homers and 6 more RBI's for Vlad, we can have teammates with 40 or more homers with 100 or more RBI's. Beer has 41 and 105. Deshaw Hardamon was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI in his return from the DL. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored.

Ken Giles recored his 300th career save in a 3-1 Astros win over the Pirates. The 34-year-old has a career 2.89 ERA and 1.10 WHIP from 2014-2025 with the Phillies and Astros. From 2018-2020, he lead the league in saves.

We get tomorrow off, before the Giants come to town for three!
