September 5th-September 11th
September 5th, 2025: I sent Juan Ramirez to AAA on a quick rehab assignment, and I'd bring him back on the 9th when we start the series following our current one.
We opened a series in Washington with Jordan Montgomery making his season debut against Gage Hinsz (16-2, 2.83 ERA, 1.05 WHIP). We got four in the 8th, but still fell 6-5 in the opener.
Montgomery's start didn't go as well as old Mongomery, 2.1 innings with 6 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Dinelson Lamet went 2.2 innings with a hit, walk, and 5 strikeouts. Marc Bjork pitched the 7th, allowing 3 hits and a run, but he struck out the side.
Seth Beer was 3-for-5 with a double and solo homer. Austin Hendrick was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Max Marusak was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 2-for-5 with a run scored.
September 6th, 2025: The Braves lost star SP Cole Winn for the rest of this year and most likely all of next year with elbow ligament reconstruction surgery. It's an awful loss for the Braves, and he was 10-10 with a 3.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 137 strikeouts in 156 innings.
September 6th, 2025: We looked to even things up with Walker Buehler (7-6, 2.45 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) taking on Sonny Warner (6-4, 3.13 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). We got 4 insurance runs in the 9th to win the second game 8-3.
Buehler went 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Joseph Jarneski got a hold, 2 innings with a strikeout. Alpha Quivers also got a hold, before Slade Cecconi pitched a perfect 9th to end it. Both him and Quivers struck out a pair.
Cole Roederer was 1-for-4 with a walk and grand slam in the top of the 9th. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a solo homer, 2 runs, and 2 walks. Jeison Guzman was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Thomas Dillard came off the bench and was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-4 with a walk.
September 7th, 2025: We looked to win the series with Mike Soroka (8-9, 3.26 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) facing Jay Groome (6-12, 5.07 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). The offense fell asleep, and we dropped the finale 3-1.
Soroka pitched the whole game, 8 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, and 5 strikeouts.
Jeison Guzman was 1-for-2 wtih a double. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a double. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Cole Roederer was 1-for-4 and had the last of our 4 hits.
September 8th, 2025: With the off day, I had a few moves I could make. First, I called up Caleb Balgaard from AAA and actiavted Greg Walston for the DL. Next, I sent J.P. Gates back to AA on rehab. I'd have to make room on the 40, or DFA him later. Tomorrow, I could shuffle the rosters to make more callups.
Vlad Jr. was named player of the week, going 13-for-27 with 5 homers and 8 RBI's.
I'm back up to 4th in the Power Rankings with a 82-57 record.
Pittsburgh was elimnated from the postseason. At 52-86, they were 26 games out of first place.
We're off to Detroit, and we'll see Michael Fulmer (9-10, 4.85 ERA), Nazeem bin Lahab (8-4, 4.17 ERA), and Franklin Perez (4-4, 4.91 ERA).
September 9th, 2025: The Boston Red Sox were eliminated from the playoffs. At 52-87, they were 24 games behind the Orioles and Rays.
I recalled Juan Ramirez from his rehab assignment. I also recalled Luis Ardon, Gunnar Hoglund, Mason Barnett, A.J. Labas, Ernesto Estrella, Kenyon Yovan, and Jake Taylor. The only minor leauger left on the 40 that are not activated is Devonte Brown, who is about 5 days away from healing from his injury. Gates is also on rehab, but not on the 40.
We opened the series in Detroit with Seve Paustian (8-5, 4.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) taking on Michael Fulmer (9-10, 4.85 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). The full day of rest yesterday should do us good. We couldn't get the offense going, and they edged us 3-2.
Paustian went 6.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out 4. Alpha Quivers got the loss, allowing a solo homer and getting two strikeouts in the 8th.
Seth Beer went 2-for-3 with a walk and double. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-2 off the bench.
September 10th, 2025: Jameson Tailon tore his rotator cuff and will miss most of next season as well. He was 2-1 out of the pen with a 2.79 ERA.
We looked to end our rut with Jake Florence (10-8, 3.58 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Franklin Perez (4-4, 4.91 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). We still can't score, and we lost 2-1...
Florence went 7 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Quivers struck out 2 in the 8th.
Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4. Seth Beer was 0-for-3 with a walk and run scored.
The Mariners 1B Paul Goldschmidt recorded his 400th career homer. He's a career .279/.387/.502 hitter in 7,876 career games with Seattle, Toronto, and Arizona.
September 11th, 2025: The Angels will be without Joel Urena for the rest of the year with shoulder inflammation. The 26-year-old lefty was 6-1 with a 3.46 ERA in 39 relief appearences and should be back for spring training.
Pirates reliever Chandler Ferguson damaged his elbow ligament, and will most likely miss all of next year as well. He was 2-6 with a 4.63 ERA in 34 relief appearences.
1B Andy Bostic ruptured his medial collateral ligament and will miss the rest of the year and will miss most of next year as well. He was hitting .261 with 15 homers and 59 RBI's.
We looked to avoid the sweep with Jordan Montgomery (0-1, 19.29 ERA, 3.86 WHIP) taking on Tyler Beede (7-6, 4.74 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). The offense woke up, and we scored 9 to win the finale 9-6.
Montgomery was a bit better, 4.1 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 5 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Dinelson Lamet got the win, 2.1 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs (2 earned) and 2 strikeouts. Hyo-jin Yaung, Ernesto Estrella, and Chasen Shreve got holds. Jorge Moya got his 31st save tossing a scorless 9th.
