if the variables still exist you could edit a skin maybe? use an old ootp gui to track it down etc. compare and moneky see, monkey do it.
i'm assuming the skin files are xml's etc and you can simply edit them but maybe not.
if you've ever played an mmo with custom ui's, it's the same concept if they allow us access.
bah -- .bin files... maybe if you can extract and re-pack. if you could you could edit any portion of the ui as you liked, and if that variable still is shared between ui and code then it's possible, because the data is still in the game even if not seen.
i've made this suggestion before. the community involvement would certainly be strong. we'd have some really cool skins for the game. not that the current one is bad, but simply due to quantity of people involved and resources they can use will almost certainly provide more created and better UI's.
since they removed it from our sight, it's very possible it's effect has been minimized or is zero. it could just be some deprecated code that is left behind for ??? potentially a good reason.
