Jim Maloney will miss up to 5 months and was place on the DL. The 29 year old is 0-3 with a 81.0 ERA in 3 games including 2 starts. Maloney had a career high 255 IPs in 1965 when he was 20-5 with a 2.54 ERA in 33 starts for the Reds, earning a position as an 1965 All Star. Maloney struck out 200 or more batters from 1963- 1966 over 4 seasons as a hard throwing righty that could close in on a 100 mph. Maloney had 3 "no hitters" to this point in his career, but only 1 counts as he lost a no hitter in the 11th on a game winning HR by Mets Johnny Lewis and lose 1-0. Maloney ruptured his Achilles Tendon and as a result will be out most of the season.

Singer the 1969 NL Cy Young and MVP winner will be missed by the Dodgers. The Dodgers training staff has confirmed Singer has contracted Hepatitis and will be out of action.
