August 28th, 1882 - Louisville Eclipse second baseman Harry McCaffery has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season due to violation of his contract with the St. Louis Brown Stockings. The decision was made during an emergency league meeting on the matter. Should Louisville make the post-season, McCaffery will be allowed to play. The league president expressed his thanks to contributing members for help in making the decision.
