June 20th-June 26th

June 20th, 2025: We opened a four game set in Washington with Dinelson Lamet (4-1, 2.37 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) facing Cole Ragans (6-3, 4.02 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). It was a rough opener, and the Nats got 4 in the 3rd to win 7-3.

Lamet went 4 innings, allowing just 2 hits, but with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Ramon Perez allowed a run in 2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers allowed 2 runs in the 8th with 2 strikeouts and 2 htis.

Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-4 with a triple, run scored, and RBI. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a steal.

June 21st, 2025: I claimed RHP Joseph Jarneski off waivers from the Angels. He's a 3* reliever wtih three plus-plus pitches, starter stamina, and plus-plus control. The Hawaii native has a respectable 3.92 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 39 innings.

We looked to bounce back with Walker Buehler (4-0, 1.89 ERA, 0.85 WHIP) battling Gage Hinsz (7-2, 3.13 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). Both teams scored single runs in the 1st and 7th, so it headed to extras tied at 2. In the 12th, Seth Beer drew a bases loaded walk, and we edged the Nats 3-2.

Buehler went 6 innings with 6 hits, a run, and 5 strikeouts. Chasen Shreve went 1.1 innings and allowed an unearned run, so technically the game shouldn't have lasted as long as it did. Jarneski made his Marlins debut, 1.2 innings with a hit and strikeout. Patrick Raby got the win, 2 innings with 2 hits and 3 strikeouts.

Mickey Moniak hit a pinch hit homer in the 7th. Austin Hedges was 1-for-3 with a double. Beer was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's and 2 walks. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 2-for-5 with a run scored, steal, and walk.

June 22nd, 2025: Tigers RHP Trevor Rosenthal is out for the rest of this year and most of next year with a damaged elbow ligament. He was 2-1 with a 6.87 ERA in his second season with the Tigers.

We looked to take the series lead with Jake Florence (4-6, 5.26 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) facing Sonny Warner (2-1, 4.78 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) in a matchup of underperforming young stars. Moniak hits Warner well, batting .371 with 3 homers. It was another long pitcher's duel, as we edged the Nats 2-1 in 11 innings.

Jorge Moya ledt with a mild hamstring strain, and will head to the DL for about a week. He allowed a hit to the only batter he faced.

Florence went just 4 innings, allowing a hit, run, 6 walks, and he struck out 3. The rest of the pen combined for 7 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Perez improved to 4-0 with the win, and Alpha Quivers got his first save.

As a team, we had just 3 hits. Moniak was 1-for-5 with an RBI and steal. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Vlad Jr. came off the bench and was 1-for-1 with a double, walk, and run scored.

June 23rd, 2025: With Moya on the DL, I called up Gunnar Hoglund from AAA. He was 1-0 in 14 games (5 starts) with a 3.20 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 41 strikeout sin 39.1 innings.

Now 43-29, we've jumped up to 3rd in the Power Rankings.

We looked to win the road series with our third straight win and Mike Soroka (4-6, 2.98 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) facing Jhon Vergara (2-4, 4.21 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). The team is really tired, so I'm hoping it's a quick win. The bats came to play, and we topped them 8-2 to win the final three games of the four game set.

Soroka went 5 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and he struck out 5. Marc Bjork, Shoehi Ohtani, and Ramon Perez combined for 4 ininings with 2 hits and 8 strikeouts.

Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-3 with 2 walks, 3 runs, an RBI, and 3 steals. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-5 with a solo shot, a double, and two total runs. Soroka was 1-for-3 with an RBI double. Austin Hendrick was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, 2 walks, and 2-for-3 in steals.

We're off to Atlanta to face the first place Braves. With a sweep, we tie them for first. We'll see Cole Winn (7-4, 2.92 ERA), Chris Helmick (7-3, 3.67 ERA), and Lucas Sims (3-4, 4.50 ERA).

But first, I have to turn 65 GCL players into 40, my favorite day of the year...

I made a few minor trades, acquiring SP Alfredo Herrera from the Phillies and SP Juan Miranda from the Cardinals. Niether guy is that good, but neither is bad either.

June 24th, 2025: We opened the series in Atlanta against the first place Braves with Steve Paustian (2-3, 3.91 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) facing Cole Winn (7-4, 2.92 ERA, 0.89 WHIP). Both guys have one start aginast the opponent this year, with Winn finding success and Paustian getting hit hard. It was depressing, and we were crushed 12-3, although we did have 14 hits...

Paustian went 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and he got 3 strikeouts. Walston got the loss, allowing a run and 3 hits without getting an out. Gunnar Hoglund allowed 4 runs and 5 hits in 1.1 innings with just 1 strikeout. Jarneski allowed 2 runs in 0.2 innings with 3 hits and a strikeout. Raby allowed 2 runs off a hit and a walk while getting just 1 out. Chasen Shreve struck out both batter he faced to finish the 8th.

Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Vlad Jr. was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Austin Hendrick doubled in 5 at bats. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with an RBI and walk.

Eloy Jimenez's hit streak was ended at 23 games as the Astros beat his Mariners 8-7.

June 25th, 2025: Farigue is setting in, but we have just 2 more games counting today before a much needed off day. Dinelson Lamet (4-2, 2.87 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) looks to melt his cold stretch against Chris Helmick (7-3, 3.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP). The Braves got 4 in the 5th and took game two 7-4 to extend their win streak to 7.

Lazaro Armenteros left with a thumb contnusion, but will probably miss just tomorrow's game.

Lamet allowed 7 runs in 4.1 innings with 5 hits, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. The rest of the pen combined for 3.2 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 6 strikeouts.

Austin Hedges was 2-for-4 with a three run homer. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Scott Kingery was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Lamet was 1-for-2.

June 27th, 2025: Fan vote update: Dillard remains 1st for catchers. Moniak is up to 2nd for center field. Ohtani is still first for RF. Quivers remains 4th for relievers.

Oakland will be without LHP Devin Smeltzer for the year with a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. He tossed 37 innings and has an ugly 7.36 ERA with 31 strikeouts.

We looked to avoid the sweep with Walker Buehler (4-0, 1.86 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) facing Lucas Sims (3-4, 4.50 ERA, 1.31 WHIP). Sims is 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA against us this year, and Mickey Moniak, Seth Beer, and Thomas Dillard all have 2 homers and are hitting over .385 in their career's against him. We couldn't score, and the Braves finished the sweep with a 2-0 shutout victory.

Shoehi Ohtani left with a quadriceps strain, but it's a minor injury and he should avoid DL time.

Buehler went 4 innings, allowoing 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and he struck out 3. Marc Bjork tossed 3 perfect innings of relief with 3 strikeouts. Chasen Shreve allowed a solo homer and got a strikeout in the 8th.

Beer was 2-for-4. Pinch hitters Jon Reid and Gunnar Hoglund (yes, the pitcher, he's kind of a two way player, although he won't play much first or third in the majors) both got singles in their only at bats. Ohtani was 1-for-2 before leaving.

We really need tomorrow's off day to recover, and we're now 6 games out of first. We have a 2.5 game lead over New York, who is the 2nd Wild Card team, but Atlanta looks unbeatable right now. On paper, they aren't better then us, but they are definitely at our level. They are just a lot more healthy, with 2 injured players instead of 6 (plus 2 active DTD guys).
