TARPONS SIGN 2
In what is now the 1st known incident of a French born player signing an ABA contract, the Florida Tarpons have inked 16 year old Theo Lemaire to a 975,000 dollar signing bonus and he has reported to their international complex. Joining him is 16-year-old Japanese Catching prospect, Yukinbu Hashimoto. Known as “The Cooler” the 6'5” catcher is believed to be the tallest Japanese born player to ever play professional baseball in the United States.
In signing both the Tarpons have again exceeded the bonus cap, this year by 11% to which GM Gehrig Schilling replied “Given the strict penalties put on the international spending cap we do not take this lightly. We also recognize that the restrictions are severe enough that when we do exceed the cap it's far more likely we will do so by a wide margin when all is said and done”
