I know. My point to the OP is that the use of overall ratings isn't related to realism or authenticity. We can all evaluate players whatever way we choose, just like MLB teams can do the same.
An example of something related to realism or authenticity would be playing an MLB game without the Rule 5 Draft or the DH.
