Seattle Goes Hitless Against Castillo

Is it better to be lucky or good?
After leading the
Texas Rangers to victory, 8-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the
Seattle Mariners,
Oswaldo Castillo didn't have the answer.
"I don't know,"
Castillo said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both."
On his big day at Globe Life Park in Arlington,
Castillo fanned 4 and had no walks. And it seemed that when the
Mariners managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender.
"That's how you get a no-hitter,"
Castillo said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck." It has been 31 years since the last
Rangers no-hitter, thrown by
Kenny Rogers in 1994.
This season
Castillo has picked up no saves and posted a 9-2 record with a 3.61 ERA. He has no relief appearances, tossed 99.2 innings and struck out 60. The 28-year old was signed to a minor league contract in February and this is his first MLB season!
