April 12th, 2024: Ben Popkin has been diagnosed with a rotator cuff strain and will head to the DL for about 7 weeks. I purchased the contract of 23-year-old Mason Barnett, who I acquired in the offseason from the Cardinals. He's got a future as a starter, but is currently rated a 3/3.5 as a reliever.

The Dodgers signed RHP Dellin Betances to a 1-year, $8.7 million contract. After a year in San Diego where he posted a 1.90 ERA and 1.30 WHIP,he didn't get quite the deal he expected. Since 2014, he's struck out 100 or more batters every year except 2021.

We opeend the first road series of the year in Citi Field, with Jordan Montgomery (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.47 WHIP) taking on Luis Marrero (1-0, 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). The game was tied heading into the 9th, but former Met Blake Tiberi took CL Drew Smith deep for a solo shot to give us a 4-3 lead we'd keep.

Montgomery had a shaky start, 4.1 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers earned the win, going 1.1 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Tiberi was the hero of the game, 2-for-4 with the solo shot and an RBI triple. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer.

Down in Greensboro, RF Saverio Viccio was 5-for-5 in a 16-7 win over the West Virginia Power.

April 13th, 2024: We looked to take sole possesion of first place, with Mike Soroka (1-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) taking on Michael Wacha (1-0, 6.14 ERA, 1.09 WHIP). It was a rough outing for Soroka, as the Mets took first back with a 10-3 win.

Soroka allowed 6 runs in 3.2 innings with 7 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Mason Barnett made his big league debut, 1.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and a strikeout. Ernesto Estrella also allowed 2 runs in 2 innings off a hit and walk.

Seth Beer wwas 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-3 with a double. He was pinch hit for by Deshawn Hardamon, who hit an RBI double. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

April 15th, 2024: We looked for the series win with Jake Florence (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.86 WHIP) taking on Chris Sale (1-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WIP). As the better team, we should win this series, but it is the road. And since it's the road, we dropped the finale 5-4.

Florence allowed all 5 in just 2.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. The rest of the pen combined for 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

Nick Gordon was 2-for-3 with a walk. Thomas Dillard had a pinch hit 2 run single. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Tomorrow was our first day off, before we would continue our road trip.

We head to Detroit for three, and will get the benefit of the DH. We'd face Miguel Angel Lastra (0-1, 8.10 ERA), Michael Fulmer (2-0, 3.48 ERA), and Jamie Barria (0-1, 1.69 ERA).

April 16th, 2024: Walker Buehler (0-2, 4.82 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) opened the series against Miguel Angel Lastra (0-1, 8.10 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) and the 4-4 Tigers. They got 6 in the 2nd and knocked us out 9-6.

Buehler had an awful start, 7 runs in 2.1 innings, but with just 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Mac Povse and Ernesto Estrella both allowed a run in 0.1 innings. Tyler Jay and Yasukazu Shiotani both tossed 2 shutout innings.

Thomas Dillard was 1-for-2 with a double, run scored, RBI, 2 walks, and a hit by pitch that was likely retaliation for Cody Bellinger getting hit and leaving with injury. April 17th, 2024: We needed to get back on track, with A.J. Puckett (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP) taking on Michael Fulmer (2-0, 3.48 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). It was a tough one, but we took the middle game 7-4.

Puckett allowed 10 hits in 5 innings, but just 3 runs and he struck out 2 as well. Estrella, Luiz Gohara, and Quiveres earned holds, while Jorge Moya earned the save. Quivers allowed 2 hits and a run with a strike out in 0.2 innings.

Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored, a hit by pitch, and a solo homer. Brendan Rodgers was 3-for-4 with a three run homer and a steal. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a run scored and hit by pitch, so I think the Tigers were gunning for us. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, run scored, and 2 RBI's.

April 18th, 2024: We looked to take the road series with Jordan Montgomery (1-0, 2.53 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) taking on Jaime Barria (0-1, 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP). Deshawn Hardamon made his first career start today, hitting 9th and DH'ing. It was a beautiful way to end the series, a nice 3-0 shutout.

Monty was brilliant, tossing a 6-hit shutout with a walk and 5 strikeouts to lower his season ERA to 1.37.

Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-3 with a two run homer and was also hit by a pitch. Hardamon was 1-for-4 i nhis first career start. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Our road trip will finish in LA for four with the Dodgers. At 7-5, we're 2 games out of first, and in possession of the 2nd Wild Card. We'd see Song-shi Su (1-1, 10.80 ERA), C.J. Jorgensen (0-1, 16.50 ERA), Dennis Santana (1-0, 4.50 ERA), and Robinson Ortiz (0-1, 3.38 ERA).
