June 18th, 1877 - The Cincinnati Reds announced today that they are out of cash and are disbanding. The Reds are 9-5 and just 3 1/2 games behind the Chicago White Stockings. Chicago wasted no time following the announcement, and immediately signed former Reds players Charley Jones and Jimmy Hallinan. League size is now even smaller with only 5 teams remaining. Charley Jones adds to an already stacked White Stockings team of all stars, and it seems that they are bound for a second straight pennant.
