Awards, Arbitration, and Pre-Free Agency

November 2nd, 2023: We're so close to the World Series that I can actually smell it. If we can become more consistent, I'm convinced we'll win in the next couple years. We even got a slight budget increase to $164,000,000 and I actually have moeny for free agents.

Jameson Taillon voided his player option, so I'll extend the qualifying offer to him. Jose Ramirez and Joe Jimenez will recieve one as well. Ramirez wants 25 million, Taillon over 22, and Jimenez over 17. It's risky with Jimenez, but worst case I just dump him on someone.

My hitting coach Dave Magadan retired. I offered "Outstanding" and former Dodger hitting coach Carlos Rivera the job.

The Mariners were bouoght by Tim DeLotto who's supposed to be an economizer.

The Brewers fired manager Mike Fitzgerald after he went 48-48 as interim manager. I offered the former 1B a shot as my A- Batavia manager.

Milwaukee also traded RHP Felix Jorge to the Padres for LF D.J. Peters. Both guys are former Marlins, and it's an even deal.

I had to make a lot of room for DL players, so I released imprending free agent Koda Glover, DFA'd Brian Anderson (revocable since he was on the DL), DFA'd Dustin May, and DFA'd Jensen Elliot.

Here's the arbitration cases:
SP Walker Buehler (6-year, $139,150,000)
SP Corbin Burnes (1-year, $4,580,000)
SP A.J. Puckett (1-year, $9,390,000): I'm looking to trade him
RP Edward Cabrera (1-year, $1,860,000)
RP Corbin Clouse (1-year, $1,090,000)
RP Luiz Gohara (1-year, $1,760,000)
RP Tyler Jay (1-year, $2,560,000)
RP Tanner Rainey (Non-Tendered)
CL Yasukazu Shiotani (1-year, $10,330,000)
1B Ryan Mountcastle (1-year, $984,000)
2B Scott Kingery (1-year, $3,680,000)
2B Brendan Rodgers (1-year, $10,980,000): might move him
3B Brian Anderson (Non-Tendered)
LF Lewis Brinson (1-year, $13,000,000): might move him

There's a lot to do, as I won't have to do as much balancing as in past years, but I do need to make a few upgrades.

November 3rd, 2023: I traded RP Dustin May to the Mets for 3B Blake Tiberi. Tiberi is acutally really good, a 3* 28-year-old with all three options left. I'd make 40-man room for him eventually.

November 4th, 2023: A lot of teams claimed Elliot, but I'm more happy for him then upset.

The Indians traded C Victor Caratini to the Mets for 1B Peter Alonso and CF Luis Flores. It's a fair enough deal, but advantage Mets for acquiring my former backstop in Caratini.

To make room for Tiberi, I traded RP Brett Conine to the Mariners for SP Eric Armstrong.

Armstrong, 23, is recovering from shoulder inflammation, but is a 1.5/2.5 with four plus pitches. The former 13th Rounder from 2021 is also non Rule-5 eligible so I can keep him in the minors.

November 5th, 2023: Jensen Elliot was claimed by St. Louis, and Brian Anderson was released. I'm hopinh to add him back on a minor league deal later in the offseason.

November 8th, 2023: The Brewers traded 2B Jorge Polanco to the Mariners for LHP Nelmerson Angela and LF Cooper Davis. It's a pretty solid deal for both teams.

The Astros sent 1B Alec Bohm and RHP Jacob Hilton to the Yankees for RHP Albert Abreu. It's a weird deal, but I guess the Yankees side is better.

November 10th, 2023: I officially signed HC Carlos Rivera to join the staff.

Novmeber 11th, 2023: Yasukazu Shiotani came in third place for Reliever of the Year, although it was unanimous for CL Michael Feliz of the Cubs. The AL Winner was CL Chad Scholes of the A's, who if you remember, was one of the few players I liked back in 2019, but didn't want to use my #2 pick on. He ended up going 9th, and is a 5* who's been excellent in his first three big league seasons.

Novmeber 12th, 2023: Thomas Dillard won Platinum Stick for Catchers. It's his first of his career in his 2nd big league season.

November 13th, 2023: 1B's Andy Bostic of the Mariners and our very own Seth Beer won Rookie of the Year. Beer was a unanimous winner, and Cole Roederer finished in third.

Three trades were made as well, starting with the Nationals sending RF Estevan Florial and SS Joe Kelly to the Red Sox for LHP Jay Groome. It's a pretty even deal, and yes, this is a different Joe Kelly that doesn't think he's going to win Cy Young.

Texas swapped 1B Jake Burger and CF Charbel Hadad to the Orioles for RHP Chance Adams. Baltimore won this trade for sure, although SP is very valuable.

THe White Sox traded RF Luis Gonzalez to the Tigers for RHP Matt Manning. It's a pretty even deal, although I like Manning a tad bit better.

November 14th, 2023: Athletics Manager Trace Coquillette and Padres Manager Dave Martinez won Manager of the Year.

November 15th, 2023: Rays ace Jacob Faria and Cubs ace Jorge Flores won Cy Young. Walker Buehler finished in 5th Place.

November 16th, 2023: Rays 1B Matt Wallner and Dodgers 1B Cody Bellinger won MVP in the year of 1B. Thomas Dillard finished in 4th with Buehler (2) and Beer (1) at the bottom.

November 24th, 2023: Jameson Taillon, Jose Ramirez, and Joe Jimenez all declined qualifying offers and will file for free agency. I could possibly have 3 supplemental picks as well as 2 first rounders in a draft that can invigorate my system.

Free Agency starts tomorrow!
