Wild Card and Divisional Series

October 5th, 2023: The Rangers crushed the Astros 14-2 to win the AL Wild Card game, and will face Tampa in the ALDS.

October 6th, 2023: Atlanta edged New York 3-1 and will face the unbeatbale Padres in the NLDS.

October 7th, 2023: Today the ALDS started. Tampa beat Texas 5-3 and Oakland walked off with Matt Olson's second of two solo homers to beat Minnesota 2-1. Both teams are up 1-0.

October 8th, 2023: Let's start with the only game that matters: the pitcher's with the highest strikeouts in the NL Walker Buehler (13-7, 3.40 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) and Jorge Flores (15-6, 3.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) opened the best of 5 series in front of a packed Marlins Park. It took 13 innings, but the Cubs topped us 5-4 in the opener.

Nick Gordon and Scott Kingery both left with DTD injuries, but it's the playoffs, so they're playing through it!

Poor Buehler... 6 scorless with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts.. Luiz Gohara allowed a hit to the only batter he faced, who later scored. Ben Popking finishted the 7th, 2 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Yasukazu Shiontani went for the two innings save and allowed a run in 1.1 with a hit, walk, and strikeout. Joe Jimenez blew the game, 0.2 innings with 3 hits and a run. Former Cub Phil Maton got the loss, 1.1 innings with a hit and run and strikeout.

Seth Beer was 4-for-5 with a walk, RBI, and a double. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-6 with a walk, solo homer, and 2 total runs scored. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-5 with a walk and solo shot. Gordon was 2-for-2 with a double before leaving with injury, being replaced by Kingery who was 1-for-2 before being reaplced by Ryan Mountcastle, who was 0-for-2 after leaving hurt.

San Diego crushed Atlanta 11-2 to take a 1-0 lead. Oakland jumped ahead 2-0 with a 13-6 win over the Twins. Texas evened the series with a 7-6 win over the Rays.

October 9th, 2023: We looked to even the series with Jordan Montgomery (8-3, 3.56 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) taking on Justin Dunn (15-9, 3.88 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). The pen was much better today, and we evened the series with a 6-2 win. This is my first postseason win, now 1-3.

Montgomery was amazing, 7 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, and 7 strikeouts. Shoitani got a 2 inning save this time, and was perfect with 2 strikeouts.

Jose Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a three run homer and 4 total RBI's. Rodgers hit another solo homer and was 1-for-4. Shoehi Ohtani was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored, a double, and an RBI. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.

Atlanta shockingly shut out San Diego 8-0 to bring the series to Atlanta.

October 10th, 2023: We got the day off today as we headed to Chicago for 2 games.

Tampa took a 2-1 lead with a 5-1 win over the Rangers. The Twins survived, winning 7-2 to force a game 4 with Oakland.

October 11th, 2023: Jameson Taillon (7-6, 4.74 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) took on Robbie Ray (12-10, 5.48 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) as we looked to take the series lead. Wrigley was packed at night, and we scilenced the home team with a 4-1 win to take the 2-1 lead.

Taillon went 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Joe Jimenez earned a hold, and then Ben Popkin finished the final 1.2 innings to get the save. The rookie struck out 2 and didn't allow a base runner.

Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the 2nd and a 2 run homer in the 9th. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Jose Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

San Diego won 5-4 with 2 in the 9th to take a 2-1 lead. Tampa finished the series with a 13-3 destruction of the Rangers. They'll face Oakland, who edged Minnesota 3-2. They have the same record, but Tampa has homefield advantage throughout the AL, although will give it up if either us or the Padres make the World Series.

October 12th, 2023: Well, this one is a little werid... Corbin Burnes (11-8, 4.19 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) is getting the start against Jorge Flores (15-6, 3.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). Not sure why my #6 starter is getting the start, but I trust Boone. In a series deciding game, we combined for a 3-hit shutout and won 5-0. It's time for the NLCS BABY!!!

I told ya, I don't know why Boone does things sometimes, but man he knows what he's doing! Burnes tossed 5 shutout innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Koda Glover got the win, 2 shutout innings with 4 strikeotus. Shiotani got a hold, an inning with a walk and 2 strikeouts and would've pitched the 9th, but we scored 4 in the 9th. Tyler Jay finished the 9th, and was perfect and got a strikeout.

Shoehi Ohtani was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Scott Kingery came off the bench in a double switch, and was 1-for-2 with a 2 run double in the 9th. Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the 9th, and he scored a run as well. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a walk and RBI.

We don't know who we're playing, as the Braves beat San Diego 6-5 to force Game 5. I really hope Atlanta wins, because we're super good against them, and will have homefield for the rest of the playoffs.

October 13th, 2023: James Pazos is recovering well, and will be fully healed in 3-4 months.

There's also no baseball today...

MacKenzie Gore was too much for the Braves, tossing 7 shutout innings and striking out 11 in a 3-0 win to win the series. We'd have to go to San Diego to beat the Padres in a 7-game series. I'm confident in our team, I built them well, and in a series, anything is possible!
