RED SOX TIE MIDWAY FOR 1ST PLACE
The Red Bluff Red Sox (86-68) lived to fight another day, winning on the last day to the season to tie the Midway Wolves (86-68) for first place in the Tycobbian East Division... the Red Sox's 10-5 triumph over the sixth place Mahaska Haymakers (73-81) gave them another chance at the division crown in tomorrow's sudden-death game against Wolves.
The Red Sox's big bats won the day with Toni Kolkov (.280/36 HR/92 RBI) socking three hits and driving in three runs... it was his 36th clout of the season... Monty Lyons (.294/19/94 RBI) and Jason Hunsinger (.273/10 HR/49 RBI) also helped out with two ribbies each... Red Bluff also took advantage of five errors by the Haymakers... winning pitcher Wilson Sharpe (20-16/2.99) labored a bit, tagged for five runs in his eight innings, but got the job done... loser Kerstan Koening (11-11/3.86) deserved better... six of his seven runs were not earned... in fact, nine of the 10 runs were unearned.
