DOWN-TO-THE-WIRE... AND BEYOND
If you are a baseball true fan, it don't get any better than this... four teams going head-to-head in a single game with their whole season riding on the results... the last two playoff spots will be decided on the diamond with the contenders playing one another... In the TU East, Red Bluff won on the final day of the season, Midway didn't... over in the TU West, Denton City won on the last day of the season, Rolling Hills didn't... now the Wolves and the Reds are forced to a sudden-death game to wrap up the division title and gain a spot in the postseason playoffs.
MIDWAY FALLS AGAIN TO MONTIES, PLAYOFF FORCED
In the tense Tycobbian East, poor Midway lost all three games to San Alejo (63-91), a last place team, and will now have to whip arch-rival Red Bluff to secure a spot in the Pro Cup Playoffs... youngster Elmer Cane (11-15/3.27) wasn't great, but effective... he whipped the hard-hitting Wolves 6-4, went the route and gave up seven hits... Will DeBerry (18-17/3.24) took the loss, slammed for six runs in seven innings... the Montaneros built up a solid 6-1 lead and then held off the Wolves... Midway will get the homefield advantage... the game is slated this afternoon at Joe Wolf Stadium.
