On a similar note, I'm at the end of the 2023 season of an MLB quick start where I am running the Red Sox. I wanted to re-sign Mookie Betts even though he is 31 and unlikely to be that productive for more than a couple more years. I offered up to a 5 year deal worth 25M per year with incentives. I was willing to way overpay for him mainly for the sentimental value. He declined. He ended up signing a 6 year deal for 10.7M per year in December with another team. Now I know players can be wrong about how much they think they will get in free agency and end up signing for less than they were offered by their original team but I don't think I've ever seen a player be this wrong before. This is so off that it almost seems like a bug.
