Ducks Slip Past Southern Maryland, 2-1

Waldorf, Maryland; Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs were eager to watch Robert Morey square off against Wander Perez of the visiting Long Island Ducks. In the end, the Ducks won the game, 2-1, with Wander Perez earning player of the game honors.

Long Island used the timely hitting of Dan Lyons to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Ducks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Long Island manager Kevin Baez.
