I didn't look at that thread, and I don't know about the numbers but the general point is correct. You can get 40-50 pitches out of a high-stamina pitcher as an RP and use him again in a couple of days. If set as an SP you'll get 2x pitches but he'll be wiped for a few days.
As to your general point, I don't worry about the vast majority of MiLB schlub pitchers. I check the real prospects every couple weeks (I play out all games) to make sure all is well. I also set high stamina RP to SP when any of my minor league teams have fewer than 4-5 starters. If the manager insists on misusing a guy I use "force start" as noted above.
