Basically, I have several months to figure out a bunch of things and I don't know what has to be done when.

Types of things I keep wondering about:

1. When are budget decisions like scouting/development "fixed"?

2. By when do I need to demote major leaguers to the minors to avoid them automatically getting MLB contracts?

3. By when do I need to cull minor leaguers to avoid them automatically getting MiLB contracts?

4. Do I only need to protect players from Rule 5 before the day of the draft or is there an earlier deadline? I wonder because the game talks about a draft pool being announced.

Anything else important? I know about the arb deadlines.

Thanks.
1. Not sure but I see them under controlled budgets on my front office page and also on the player development tab. I think the actual notification comes as preseason begins in late January. I'll be there soon and let you know.

2. It's not that simple. You must get any player on an auto renew mlb contract off the 40-man roster. That includes minor league players on the 40-man with mlb contracts. Since the active roster in the offseason is the 40-man then you must DFA and waive them. Demoting a 25-man (in season) roster player to the minors after the season does nothing to his active roster status, his contract situation, or arb. For players not on auto renew you will have arb to deal with.

3. Not sure what you mean. Every player without a mlb contract is on a milb contract that is auto renewed until minor league FA (human player choice ie 6 years in the financial tab) is reached. AFAIK these contracts cost you nothing in-game. If I were to guess you should release (and I don't know why you would care) any milb player before arbitration is set. Just a guess though. I tend to release milb layers at the start of the offseason.

4. Day of I think. I always do it the day before.

Hope this helps!
