Playing my challenge mode famranchise as the Yankees, the year 2020 was one for the ages and the record books.
162 games was nowhere near enough to settle things as there was a 2 way tie for the AL East and then a 3 way tie for the second wild card
Notable little tidbit on the season also. On the final day of the regular season, mr joey Gallo passed Mark McGwire for second most home runs in a season with his 71st and 72nd. But wait! Gallo’s Rangers were part of the 3 way tie and he got to play in game 163 at Fenway against the Red Sox.
Gallo struck out and flew out to start the game. However in the 5th inning, he managed to barely sneak one inside the pole down the left field line. Tying Barry bonds for the single season record.
Not long after, two innings later to be exact, mr Gallo steppes to the plate again. He took an 0-1 pitch from Adam warren 398 feet to right center to set the all time single season Home record with 74.
Gallo then went on to beat my Yankees in the WC game thanks to a 3 run shot.
What a year
