If you want to maximize your chances of joining a league that isn't going to fold, I would suggest:

First, decide what kind of league you want to join to narrow down your search- current real players, fictional players, historical players. Go the fictional or historical route unless you're dead set on current, real players- fictional/historical leagues fold a lot less frequently.

1. Look for a league that has already simmed at least 3 or 4 seasons, resist the temptation to join a newly forming league.

2. Don't join a league just because it has openings. Get your name on the waiting list of every league you can find that looks good, you'll get in somewhere.
