Thanks! I'll be trying this. I went into League Totals and put in 1981 for the "Totals from Year" and I think this changed things. Nobody hit more than 45 home runs, no huge stats. I think I have reply set up for no trades/roster changes, though it does make the trades that were historical, but I've never fooled around too much with this.
